Thank you for coming to my site here is a little about me!

My name is Roger Spurgeon. Let me tell you a little about myself and my photography experience. I was born and raised here in Ottumwa. I enlisted the United Marine Corps in 1980, served 4 years then returned to Ottumwa. Worked at Musco Lighting for 5 years, doing the lighting for movies and collage football.Then moved to California in 1992 to work for BeBee Night Lights again doing the lighting for major motion pictures and TV shows. I retired in 2023 and moved back to Ottumwa.

I bought my first camera in Okinawa Japan while in the Marine Corps, it was film back then and that is when my passion for photography began. I have always had a nice camera since. In 1995 I worked part time at the Perris Valley Skydiving school in California as a free fall camera man and videographer. I took pictures and videos of students making their first skydives and also worked with experienced skydivers jumping from planes, balloons and even walking on the wing of a glider. Worked there for 4 years making over 1500 camera jumps. One of the best times of my life.

I continued with my photography expanding my skills and lighting knowledge up to the present day. I am the official photographer at the Bridge View Center for their special events and concerts. I shoot natural light and multiple flashes to ensure I get the best lighting and mood for each shot.

I love capturing those fleeting moments in time for people whether it’s maternity, infant or children, senior pics, family portraits, sporting events, Pets, Corporate head shots or drone pics of your farm or business.
